Fresh from winning two-ARIA Awards, Australia’s favourite male artist Dan Sultan has collaborated with Ella and Jesse Hooper of The Verses on a stunning new version of The Verses track ‘Running Away’ which is now available for download. The original track is available on The Verses debut album ‘Seasons’, however when close friends Ella and Dan started singing along to it together, they decided to record another version of the track.

“Dan and I have been really close mates for years,” said Ella Hooper. “As soon as we met we knew we had a really strong musical chemistry and incredibly similar taste, so we've been plotting and planning, waiting for the right moment to do something together and Running Away was one of Dan's favorite songs of mine. The song really came to life when Dan started singing along one day when we were demo-ing it, so we turned it into a duet. He often jumps up at our gigs and sings and I was very proud and excited to sing backing vocals and a duet on his record. It's a fantastic feeling to sing with one of my best friends who also happens to be one of the countries best talents!”

To accompany the single, Ella and Dan also filmed a video clip an hour out of Melbourne last month, which was directed by ARIA award winning Bart Borghesi and which can be seen here:

The Running Away collaboration comes off the back of a hugely successful year for both Dan Sultan and The Verses, who debuted their album ‘Seasons’ at #13 on the ARIA chart in August and have since toured around the country. With the 2010 ARIA Awards for Best Male Artist and Best Blues & Roots Album for Get Out While You Can, it is clear that Dan’s star will only continue to rise in the future.
