Red Ink rock the schools!

Australia’s longest running free education and entertainment tour, Logitech Rock The Schools powered by Norton, is on the road for its biggest ever national tour, which will see it visit 90 schools around the country, reaching over 70,000 high-school students all around Australia.

Having kicked off in Sydney on Monday 2 May, Logitech Rock the Schools powered by Norton will visit Colac Technical School on Wednesday 1 JUNE, providing the students with a unique insight into the music and entertainment industry’s many careers. The action packed day includes hands-on workshops for senior music students with industry professionals from the Australian Institute of Music. The whole school will then be treated to a lunchtime concert from up and coming Melbourne band, Red Ink.

“In 2011, Logitech Rock the Schools powered by Norton will cover more of Australia and will entertain and educate more students then ever before! We are really excited about rocking into our sixth year of inspiring the next generation of Australian music industry professionals. Through the generous support of Logitech, Norton, the Australian Institute of Music, the Australian Government’s National Drugs Campaign and Ubisoft ‘s Just Dance 2, this year we are able to offer this fantastic program free to 90 schools ,” Frances Corkhill, Project Director of Schools Tours Australia said.

With a total of four bands touring throughout the program, Red Ink is kicking off its leg of the tour. Taking over from Adelaide’s Delamare, who performed for the first leg of the tour in NSW and regional VIC, Red Ink will take the tour throughout VIC, SA and back to NSW. The pop-rock quartet promise to be a crowd pleaser, bringing their energetic on-stage presence and new single, “What My Friends Say” to thousands of excited students.

Now in its sixth year, Rock The Schools sees lifestyle brand Logitech join the tour as naming rights sponsor, improving the participating schools’ audio, digital and lifestyle experience by providing a plethora of resources to schools to further enable future music lessons. Software brand Norton is also on board to support the tour for the first time. International smash hit Wii game, Just Dance 2, has also come on board as a sponsor for its first year. This exciting new partnership will see the element of dance introduced to the program, with students encouraged to get active and learn a few dance routines to some of music’s most iconic tunes.

National Drugs Campaign (NDC) and Australian Institute of Music (AIM) are both returning for their second year to support the hugely successful program, with AIM providing students with rare access to some of the music and entertainment industry’s most successful people.

2011 also sees the world’s most popular social game for teenagers, Habbo returning for its fifth consecutive year as a media partner. A safe and fun online environment for teens to hang out, Habbo.com will have a dedicated Logitech Rock the Schools powered by Norton assembly hall.
