In a massive coup, KIMBRA has taken out the Best Female Artist ARIA Award for 2011. KIMBRA

was nominated amongst some of Australia’s most respected songstresses including Adalita, Clare Bowditch, Kasey Chambers and Washington.

Dressed by exciting new visual artist turned fashion designer Jaime Lee Major, KIMBRA also stole audience’s hearts when she performed the #1 hit song, Somebody That I Used To Know, with Gotye. The alluring duet, one of the most talked about songs of the year, also took out 5 ARIA Awards including Single of the Year and Best Pop Release. The song also took out the Best Video, Producer of the Year and Engineer of the Year Artisan Awards.

“It is such a great surprise and honour to win an ARIA! I was just excited to be performing and

wasn't expecting any awards. So it's really special to be acknowledged at this level and so early on in my career,” says KIMBRA.

After the success of her debut album VOWS, which debuted at #5 on the ARIA charts and has been certified GOLD, being recognised Australian Record Industry Awards as the Best Female Artist cements her position as a unique music artist who is here to stay.

By all accounts, 2011 has been KIMBRA’s year. She has signed to Warner Bros Records, released her debut album, completed a headline, SOLD OUT, national tour of Australia and performed at the Parklife festivals to rave reviews.

Over the last few years, KIMBRA has proven herself as a songwriter and music stylist beyond her years.

Settle Down, the first single lifted from VOWS, won first place in the Pop/Top 40 category at the The International Songwriting Competition (ISC), the world's preeminent global songwriting event. KIMBRA was also awarded the prestigious Vanda & Young Songwriting Award for her 2nd single Cameo Lover.

GOOD INTENT, the alluring 3rd single from KIMBRA’s highly anticipated debut album VOWS is

currently being spun on commercial radio. An alluring, evocative pop melody, Two Way Street is KIMBRA’s recently released fourth single.

Having recently returned from Los Angeles where she working with Warner Bros Records and

writing with soul music great John Legend, KIMBRA has just performed at Queenscliff Music

Festival, and will play the Homebake, Falls Music and Arts Festival, Southbound and Big Day Out festivals over summer.

Winning the Best Female Artist ARIA at such an early stage in her career recognises KIMBRA as a spectacularly talented artist and heralds a bright future for the eclectic young singer.

Electric Empire and Phil Tan Cameo Lover remixes are being released to commercial radio this

week.

VOWS is available through JB HiFi, Sanity & iTunes, with a special vinyl release in stores from 9 December.
