Emerging alt-pop Brisbane artist Hallie releases a new song and beguiling new music video today. “Sympathy” was produced by Oscar Dawson whom she met whilst on tour with his band, Holy Holy in 2019.

Hallie says about her new single, “Sympathy” is a song I wrote after feeling really angry about letting myself fall into a brief trap of gossip and judgment in conversation. I just really didn’t want to be that dickhead and I needed to put myself in my place to make sure I didn’t get caught up again. I hope ‘Sympathy’ is the refresher listeners need, so they rethink how they want to be spending their energy!”

The Sympathy video, directed by Madeline Randall, is a physical interpretation of the song and it was shot in a vintage 1970’s home with contemporary dancers, Zoe Bauer and Erika Jayne Goldsmith. Hallie says about the video, “we wanted to represent the raw yet powerful message of the song, and I had always wanted to work with contemporary dance within my music. A simplistic, almost one scene dance, felt like the perfect way to show the songs true vulnerability without the distraction of big props and set designs. We all feel really proud to be putting this video out into the world!

It’s been an exciting 12 months for Hallie after winning the Unearthed Bigsound competition and taking on an extensive touring schedule as support to indie darlings: Holy Holy, Stella Donnelly and Spacey Jane. Now Hallie is ready to hit the road again throughout February, March and April.

“Sympathy” is released through Ditto Music on Thursday, February 20th.
