Fancy Face is a brand-new indie rock 5-piece, emerging from the inner suburbs of Melbourne. The band came together in 2019 with the mission of writing music that could relate to real people, and fostering a fun community where anyone can come to a show and enjoy some good tunes.

Aaron Bach (lead vocals and guitar) spent some time compiling demos with producer and songwriter Alex Markwell (The Delta Riggs). The band’s lineup was completed shortly after this, and the demos were brought to life in the studio. This ultimately became the band’s debut EP – “He said He said” in 2020.

Today, Fancy Face have released double singles “Sunset Moon” and “Too Young” from their forthcoming debut album.

Aaron shared about the writing process - “Sunset Moon & Too Young represent two different times in my life but somehow meeting together on this record. Reflecting on times in my life that made no sense and maybe still don’t. Dealing with the situations people leave you in & having no control over the outcome. It was very much thinking out loud”.

Influenced by the smooth criminals of the alternative/indie rock world – The Growlers, Dope Lemon, The Murlocs and many more – Fancy Face are setting out to make some new friends with their groovy new tunes.

“If Dope Lemon and Mac De Marco had a love child it would be these two singles, I’m lucky to share the stage and the studio with musicians who are all working towards a common vision. The style of the tracks and Aaron’s lyrics make me feel really proud of what we’ve accomplished.” shares Julia their guitarist. “Sunset Moon” and “Too Young” are the second and third single off their forthcoming album and they can’t wait to show you what else they have instore for their first album. Working with Producer Alex Markwell of the Delta Riggs to produce two tracks driven by happy guitar riffs, a pumping rhythm section and laid back harmonizing vocals, these two singles Sunset Moon and Too Young capture the essence of what Fancy Face is about musically – writing catchy, upbeat tunes that everyone can get around. The band recently knocked out 25,000 combined streams on Spotify and their momentum is only building! This is despite being a two year old band that formed right at the start of the pandemic, they did not let this get them down and were constantly thinking of ways to keep listeners engaged by playing shows when they could and being a crew that loves a laugh they are always thinking of inventive ways to keep active on social media.

“A good delivery of retro, fuzzy, sway along with your lover type rock” – Declan Triple J Home and Hosed

“This band has burst onto the music scene with unstoppable energy. Influenced by brit-rock and 60’s bands, Fancy Face are quickly rising to indie-rock staple status. A great pick for fans of The Black Keys, The Growlers and Dope Lemon, Fancy Face make lively and relatable tunes.” – Livewire AU
