Beloved Australian country duo the Sunny Cowgirls are back with their new single “Weather Dad”, a playful tribute to the classic Aussie dad who treats every incoming cold front like headline news.
Marking an exciting new chapter for sisters Sophie and Celeste, “Weather Dad” sees the Sunny Cowgirls return to the music they love following time away to raise their families.
Packed with the duo’s trademark humour, country charm and unmistakably Australian storytelling, the single celebrates the familiar father figure who is permanently tuned into the forecast — checking the radar, measuring rainfall and offering regular updates on wind direction to anyone within earshot.

For more than two decades, the Sunny Cowgirls have built a devoted following by singing honestly about life in rural and regional Australia. Their songs capture the hard work, humour, mateship and community spirit that define life on the land, earning the sisters nine Golden Guitar nominations and a lasting place in the Australian country music landscape.
Raised on their family’s Sunninghill property at Dunkeld, near Victoria’s Grampians, Sophie and Celeste began their musical apprenticeship performing at rodeos and agricultural shows across Western Australia. After crossing the Nullarbor in their trusty ute and working as roustabouts along the way, the sisters attended the Academy of Country Music in Tamworth, where they caught the attention of Australian country star Adam Brand.
Their 2005 debut album, Little Bit Rusty, reached the Top 5 of the ARIA Country Albums Chart and launched a career that has included eight acclaimed studio albums, major national tours and appearances at some of Australia’s biggest country music festivals, including the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Gympie Music Muster, CMC Rocks and the Deni Ute Muster.
From fan favourites including “Rousy’s Life” and “Cuttin’ Up B&S Style” to the hugely popular “Cowboy”, the Sunny Cowgirls have become known for turning the characters, conversations and everyday experiences of the Australian bush into songs that feel instantly familiar.
