Multi-WAMi Award-winning Western Australian emcee, producer, and instrumentalist Ben Fear releases “Lotus” - his debut single as a solo artist - to digital service providers on 23rd August. The track has been co-written by prolific Australian artist Lyndon Blue (Methyl Ethel, Leafy Suburbs, Heathcote Blue) and studio recording, and production comes courtesy of multi-award-winning producer Matt Gio (Rudimental, Abbe May, San Cisco, Troye Sivan, Phil Stroud).

Having well-and-truly cut his teeth playing, recording, and touring with bombastic Australian hip hop/electronica powerhouse The Brow/Brow Horn Orchestra for seven years, Ben now has much shorter teeth. This new, solo project sees the rapper take a more definitively-hip hop approach, incorporating elements of trip hop, jazz, classic rock, and world music, and bringing to these his trademark poetic style.

The dark-yet-playful lyricism of Lotus examines: the frenetic, sickly nature of modern life; the search for perspective; and the arguably-narrow vision of current political discourse and of Western culture.
