ESKIMO JOE TO RELEASE BRAND NEW SINGLE,
“WHEN WE WERE KIDS” ON 20TH MAY;
THE BANDS HIGHLY ANTICIPATED 5TH STUDIO ALBUM
DUE OUT LATER THIS YEAR;
THE BAND PREMIERE NEW SINGLES AT DIRT DIAMONDS LABEL LAUNCH.
ESKIMO JOE return with the first single from their eagerly awaited 5th studio album, “Ghosts of the Past,” due for release August/September 2011. ESKIMO JOE will release the brand new single “When We Were Kids,” on Friday May 20th. The band is now nearing the completion of their 5th studio album, recorded by the same team that produced the multi-platinum, Black Fingernails, Red Wine which made an impressive debut in 2006 on the Aria Chart at #1.
In addition to an already stellar music career, the trio have recently teamed up with their manager Catherine Haridy on new label, Dirt Diamonds Productions, which was launched in spectacular style in their home town of Perth this week.
The buzzing, media heavy showcase was kicked off by performances from fellow Dirt Diamonds acts, The Chemist and followed swiftly by a stunning acoustic set by Steve Parkin. The air in the room was brimming with anticipation and excitement as ESKIMO JOE took to the stage for a phenomenal acoustic set showcasing two earlier tracks and premiering 2 new tracks, “When We Were Kids” and “Love is a Drug,” both from the new album.
In the lead up to the release of “Ghosts of the Past,” the band are set to perform five very special, intimate, acoustic performances Australia-wide and are celebrating the release of “When We Were Kids,” with the first show of the tour kicking off on the singles’ release date.
The rare acoustic shows will feature some of the recently crafted, yet-to-be released songs as well as their classic tunes. A portion of the profits from the tickets will go to the Close The Gap Campaign which the band are ambassadors for in 2011 http://www.oxfam.org.au/explore/indigenous-australia/close-the-gap
In addition to these shows, Eskimo Joe will also be playing Splendour in the Grass Festival in July – see all dates below.
The trio has come a long way since their humble beginnings as much-loved indie rock kids in Fremantle, Western Australia. The band is now nearing the completion of their 5th studio album, recorded by Matt Lovell and produced by the band in the same location as the multi-platinum, Black Fingernails, Red Wine which made an impressive debut in 2006 on the Aria Chart at #1.
Inshalla, the bands musically diverse and internationally flavoured 4th studio offering, delivered a Led Zeppelin tinged, Middle Eastern flavoured single in "Foreign Land", which earned the band the most played Australian song on radio in 2009, along with an APRA award for "Best Rock Song".
